After overwhelming opposition by the City of Chandler and Chandler residents, Dominium is digging in their heels and trying once again to line their pockets. Dominium Apartments, a developer of low-income, taxpayer subsidized housing based in Minnesota, has acquired a plot of land in South Chandler. The parcel of land is currently a farm on a county island near the corner of Ocotillo Rd and Arizona Avenue (behind Target).  Within the City of Chandler Master Plan, the land is zoned for agricultural use with a planned change to light industry in the future to support the Chandler Airport General Plan. 


The developer, Dominium Apartments, in partnership with the Housing Authority of Maricopa County, has applied to rezone the land from agriculture to high-density residential. Since the land is in an unincorporated area of Maricopa County, the property zoning and development process is being conducted by Maricopa County and will be voted on by the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors.

This area was not planned for high-density housing and the project will be a severe burden on the City’s services and infrastructure along with many other potentially negative effects for the surrounding community. This project DOES NOT align with Chandler’s General Plan (voted on by 85% of Chandler residents). This project DOES NOT align with the Chandler Airpark Area Plan.

The City of Chandler is OPPOSED to this project, but it is being voted on by the Maricopa County Bord of Supervisors.

Please note my strong opposition to this rezoning application. The proposed project does not align with the Chandler General Plan and the Chandler Airpark Area Plan or the City's Water Plan. The impact on our community will be detrimental. The City of Chandler is opposed to this project, the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors should be opposed also. Please note my opposition at your upcoming Planning and Zoning Commission meeting. 

Our Leadership Team recently met with prestigious Chandler developer and Maricopa County 

Planning and Zoning Commissioner, Spike Lawrence. Mr. Lawrence voiced his opposition of this project and stated, 

"I stand with the neighbors!"
